This unique carved wood table lamp features a structure consisting of traditional Korean house roof and windows. When the light is on, each side reveals the design of Sagunja, or “four noble beings,” containing four plants, maehwa (spring), orchid (summer), chrysanthemum (autumn) and bamboo (winter) that symbolize the four seasons. There is a pull string switch on the lamp so that the user can choose from two colors of light. This wood lamp radiates soft and comforting natural light to soothe the body and mind, tired from busy urban life.

I only have one complaint. The photos listed show the top removed, which gives the impression that the bulbs are replaced from the top. No instructions are provided with the lamp. However, after failing to be able to remove the top, I posted a question on here on how to do so. After further inspection, and being to impatient to wait for an answer from Amazon, I discovered that the bottom support bar which holds the fixture, has two “hand tight” screws that are removable to access the two bulbs for replacement. I did still get an answer on here, thanks Dave C.
I also meant two bulbs. There is one soft white incandescent light, and one smaller red incandescent light. The pull cord on one side of the lamp changes light bulbs and turns the lights off. I replaced the larger bulb with a 40 watt equipment LED bulb. Works great! Have not changed the red bulb out yet. It has different base.

There’s a little 3 way pull switch on the front. Cord had no power switch. No bulbs with this lamp, but easy enough to install! Overall pretty decent lamp.

It takes two lights, one a C7 Christmas light type and the other a standard thread bulb. I think they’re E6. This one went on top of an antique Korean chest we’ve had for decades, along with a few other Korean decorative items that were crying out for this Hanok lamp to complete the look. It certainly does all that. I’m very happy with this purchase, even though $229.00 is a lot to pay for a decorative light, in my opinion. It looks to me to be a quality item all the way around. I’ll add that when I was in Seoul, last year I looked at similar lamps and the price was not a lot different for something of this size and quality, so there isn’t a huge mark up, plus I didn’t have to cart it all the way across the ocean myself. Very happy with this authentic piece of Korean craftsmanship.
March 29, 2024 – My son pointed out a piece of cracked wood on the front of the lamp. It appears to be either from an impact or some type of stress. Anyway, it was there from the beginning, since it’s in the pictures I took of it when it first arrived. Now, I can’t unsee it and I wonder if the manufacturer would offer a trade. For the money spent, I’d prefer a product with no defects. These are beautiful, but if you order one, check it over very carefully when it arrives. I didn’t and now I feel a little less happy with my purchase. Like I got a second, instead of a perfect product, but still paid the perfect product price.

After trying a couple of replacement lamps in the old spot where the broken one lived, I finally settled on this one. This one is very pretty and I love the intricate carvings and paintings on the light panels and love the soft, warm glow it gives off. (Unfortunately, my camera could not pick up on the paintings on the light panels so the pictures don’t show them.)
I would have given this 5 stars, but the manufacturer made a thoughtless mistake. They stupidly placed the switch on the cord only about half an inch away from the lamp itself. What sense that make? The only reason to have a switch on the cord is to make it easier to turn the thing on and off when you can’t reach the lamp itself. Placing it next to the lamp completely defeats the purpose of having a switch on the cord — might as well put it right on the lamp. Having the switch right next to the lamp makes it much harder for me to turn the lamp on and off as I am petite and it’s difficult to reach up that high. The thoughtlessness on the cord switch placement kind of ruins an otherwise perfect lamp.
